Media Training
Whether your intent is to inform, defend, promote, or make a stand, it's not just what you say but how, when, and where you say it that can be the difference between success and failure. Our media training will help YOU control the interview and convey your message. Understand what the reporter needs and learn how to protect your message. Talking to the media is NOT the same as public speaking or a presentation. Are you in crisis mode and doing damage control, or are you trying to get exposure for your company or product? Understanding what the media is looking for and learning how to deliver an unflappable message makes you more powerful. |
Media Training formats
- One-on-one: By far, the most effective way to develop media communications strategies that include crisis management, extensive on-camera work and critique, public speaking, and personalized instruction tailored to your needs. See real-life examples of major media mistakes and learn what could have been done to prevent them. Includes one year follow-up support. Ideal for executives and high-profile clients.
- Team workshop: For teams up to 6 that cover not only the "rules of engagement" in working with the media but also on-camera work and critique. We'll cover how to increase your chances of getting media coverage by knowing how to put together a press release that will get looked at, and knowing what reporters and producers are looking for when deciding what stories to cover. Other topics to be tailored to your organization's needs whether it be dealing with "citizen journalists" or social media impact, etc.
- Group training: Unlimited number of participants. We'll cover the do's and don'ts of engaging with the media, learn how body-language affects your message and how to deflect negative or hostile questioning. A few participants will be asked to do on-camera work for critique and demonstration.
